While doing some research for some new backdrops, I noticed that Prof. Onihashi's I-Ching Hexgram is different than the Arashikage Hexagram. I had never noticed this before so I decided to do a quick search for the meanings.
I'm pretty sure the Arashikage hexagram, symbolizing 'completion', has already been discussed before elsewhere. This could describe Snake-Eyes' role with the Arashikage and completing his ninja training. Worth noting is the hexagram's general meaning of good fortune in the beginning, but maybe disorder in the end. This is possibly pointing to the revelation of a new heir and both the death of the Hardmaster and the disbanding (although temporary) of the Arashikage clan.
It turns out that Prof. Onihashi's hexagram symbolizes 'nourishment'. This is quite fitting if you think about how Zartan starts out with bad intentions and then no longer wants anything to with the assassination of Snake-Eyes after he finds his higher purpose in life. Sword-smithing became his nourishment.
I thought this was pretty cool that Larry Hama had picked these hexgrams so fittingly to represent the Arashikage and Prof. Onihashi. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into this...
